As members of the American Collectors
Association (ACA), we subscribe to the ACA collection practices
code of ethics as well as a rigorous training program for our employees.
The ACA has developed a continuing education program for its members
to aid in training employees in areas such as Fair Debt Collection
Practices Act (FDCPA), Professional Telephone Collection Techniques
and Professional Liability. In addition, the ACA has a Certified
Collector program which tests collectors’ professionalism
and knowledge of the FDCPA. Presently, only 5% of the collection
professionals in the country are Certified Collectors.
All our sales, collection and customer service employees must successfully
complete CMI’s in-house computer course on the FDCPA and HIPAA
and take the Professional Telephone Collections Technique course
before handling a single account. The CMI in-house courses are provided
by ACA and involve the same materials and testing procedures in
ACA schools.
CMI
has taken the commitment to training and industry education one
step further. We take the knowledge we’ve gained and pass
it on to our clients in the form of personalized seminars and training
sessions. At these client training sessions, we share the knowledge
of the federal and local debt collection laws. In addition to learning
about our collection process in general, our client learns tips
on how to handle delinquencies, how to bring them up to date and
how to save them as good accounts. CMI’s training sessions
are excellent for managers, office managers and customer service
personnel.
